Grote Industries manufactures vehicle lighting, wiring, electrical connection equipment, and smart-trailer systems. Its products serve commercial trucks, trailers, work trucks, and other transportation and industrial equipment.
Truck Equipment Atlas covers Grote products to help readers understand commercial lighting, trailer electrical systems, and connected equipment that reports vehicle and trailer conditions.
History and Background
William D. Grote established the company in 1901 as a chemical and industrial oxygen manufacturing business. It later expanded into plastics manufacturing and vehicle safety equipment.
In 1929, Grote developed a retro-reflective vehicle reflector, helping establish its long-term focus on visibility and road safety. Subsequent developments included commercial-vehicle lamps, LED lighting, wiring equipment, and connected trailer technology.
Grote remains family-owned and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2026.

Technology and Product Development
Grote’s lighting development includes compact LED lamps, multifunction signal lamps, work lighting, and flexible LED lighting products. Its electrical equipment supports power delivery and connections throughout trucks and trailers.
MicroNova clearance and marker lamps use a compact, low-profile design. Applicable models include sealed lens-to-housing construction and protected circuit boards to address vibration and corrosion exposure.
The 4SEE platform extends Grote’s work into connected trailer equipment. Its smart nosebox and digital harness provide a common path for information from compatible trailer components. Available functions depend on the installed sensors, modules, and fleet connections.
Grote has also developed 4SEE camera integration with Stoneridge, allowing a compatible rear trailer camera to communicate through the standard seven-way tractor-to-trailer connection to an in-cab display.
